PhotoLETTER FROM TASK

Dear Tobacco Control Advocate:

Tobacco use is the number one cause of death and disability in Kansas and in the nation. If current rates continue, 50,000 youth who are alive today will die prematurely.

Experience has shown that an important component of any tobacco prevention program is the adoption and enforcement of a school policy that prohibits tobacco use in school buildings and grounds. The policy applies to all students, parents, faculty and visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If your district, school and/or facility is still in the planning or revising your policy, we invite you to see our website at www.kdhe.state.ks.us/tobacco for information on making your district, school and/or facility tobacco free.

Your interest in Kansas’s youth and tobacco prevention is admirable. We look forward to working with you to create a tobacco free future generation.

Sincerely,
Tobacco Use Prevention Program and TASK
